April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American is part of a select category of females who have been awarded medals at multiple Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. At 39, this could be Ross' last chance to win the Olympic gold. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well they could win a gold. Additionally, I'm going put my faith in a touch of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd, 1982 located in Costa Mesa California. She resided there along with her entire family. In addition to competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. As a prep-athlete she played indoor track and volleyball. She stood out however in this sport. As per her biography in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). To honor her achievements, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. Additionally, in 2000, she was named Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross and Klineman started their partnership in 2017, however, Ross has been a beach star for years before. The fact is, she's won multiple big tournaments as well as one of her partners was a renowned volleyball player. For six years from 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were a formidable force in the international arena, taking home the 2009 World Championship together. They went on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. In 2016, the pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross competed for USC Trojans throughout her college years before becoming a professional. Her experience at USC was impressive. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the award and become an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to make it to the Final Four with her help. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season, but she still repeated in the ranks of an All-American. In her last two seasons with the Trojans' program the team was led to victories by winning successive national titles. She was a fantastic player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a major in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She continues to cherish her mother who died.
